FAQ

Using Popsy

What does Popsy do?
Popsy is a handheld opening aid for medication packaging and other small healthcare packaging. It opens blister pill packs, paper, plastic, foil packaging, liquid medication cups, foil drink cups, and more. Use it only for that intended purpose, and follow the instructions that come with it.
What is Popsy made out of?
Popsy is made out of ABS plastic, which is a tough, lightweight, and impact-resistant opaque thermoplastic polymer.
How many come in a pack?
Each pack contains two individual popsies.

Cleaning & Care

How do I clean Popsy?
Popsy isn't disposable — it's built for repeated, everyday use, shift after shift. Wipe it between each use with isopropyl alcohol (an alcohol pad or disinfectant wipe works well), just like your stethoscope or penlight. It has no moving parts or seams that trap residue.
How long does Popsy last?
With regular use, the sharp edge performs at its best for about 4 to 6 months. Check Popsy from time to time and stop using it if it's cracked, damaged, very worn, or seems unsafe — replace it once it no longer opens packaging the way it should.

Safety

Is Popsy sharp?
Yes. Popsy has a functional piercing and cutting edge, so handle it carefully and keep your fingers away from the opening area while you use it. Keep Popsy away from children.
Are there places I shouldn't use Popsy?
Please don't use Popsy in inpatient isolation rooms. Always follow your employer's and facility's policies — infection prevention, medication handling, and equipment rules — and don't use Popsy anywhere facility policy prohibits it.
